Kisan Mela and Three Day Workshop on “Technological Advances with Direct Marketing Linkage in Organic Farming for Rural Entrepreneurship Development” wasorganized by FARMER Biotech-KISAN HUB, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh on 12th – 14th September, 2019 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture &Technology (SVPUA&T) – Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), NoorpurChholus, Dadri, Gautambudh Nagar under Biotech-KISAN Scheme funded by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The Kisan Mela and Workshop was attended by progressive farmers, processors, forward marketing agencies engaged in trading of organic produce, scientists from various Research, Educational and Extension Institutions, Social Activists and Policy Makers, Print and Electronic Media personalities, media agencies including DD, DD Kisan, All India Radio, Loktantra TV, FM Gold, FM News TV and other dignitaries as per list attached. There were about 1000 farmers who participated in the Kisan Mela and Workshop out of which 600 numbers of farmers got registered. About 250 farmers and 70 Agriculture Experts / Scientists participated in the three days workshop.

The high-point of the Kisan Mela and Workshop was the 22 stalls Exhibition of FARMER Biotech-KISAN HUB and its Partnering Institutions along with many Social Organizations, Companies, Women Groups, Rural Entrepreneurs and Progressive Organic Farmers and Farmers’ Groups. All the biotech interventions for enhancing farm health and crop yields were depicted as products and processes.

During technical session in Kisan Mela several technical aspects on organic cultivation addressed by Dr. C. Tiwari, Dr.Dipty Choudhary, Dr. Vipin Kumar, Dr. U.S. Teotia, Dr. R. N. Sharma, Dr.Jagpal Singh, Dr. Mayank Rai, Dr. Anant Kumar, Dr. Hansraj, Dr. A K Mishra, Dr. Ashok Singh Senger, Dr. Seema Rani, Shri Riazuddin, Smt. Rinni, Smt. Swati, Dr. Manoj Sharma, Dr.Sheeshpal Singh.

The Kisan Mela was inaugurated by Hon’ble Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Member of Parliament – Lok Sabha, Gautam Budh Nagar and Former Union Minister, Government of India on 12th, September, 2019. The function was presided over by Padma Shri Bharat Bhushan Tyagi along with Guests of Honour viz., Dr. S.N. Shukla, Former ADG-ICAR; Dr. T. P. Rajendran, Former ADG-ICAR, and Shri R. P. S. Raghuvanshi, Founder, Dainik Chetna Munch, Shri Tarkeshwar Sharma, Member-Governing Body, FARMER, Dr. V. P. Singh, Surgeon, Dr. Narender Kumar and progressive farmers of the region.

The Valedictory Session of Workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble Shri Tejpal Singh Nagar, Member of Legislative Assembly, Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha on 14th, September, 2019.

One Day Workshop

In pursuance of direction of PSMC of DBT, one day Workshop of FARMER Biotech KISAN Hub Ghaziabad and Partnering Institutes was held on 05.02.2020 at FARMER Laboratory S.B.-179, Shastri Nagar, Ghaziabad under the chairmanship of Dr. T.P. Rajendran, Mentor of the Project & formerly Asstt. DG (PP) ICAR & OSD-Director, NIBSM, Raipur (CG) for conducting science-based activities and smooth implementation of the project during second year.

WEBINAR

FARMER-Biotech-KISAN Hub organized a webinar “Bio-control of Soil Arthropod Pests” on 02.01.2021. The webinar was attended by 179 participants representing scientists from ICAR Research Institutions, All India Network Project on Soil Arthropods Pests, Sugar Industry and Bio-fertilizers / Bio-pesticides Formulation Industry, Scholars and Farmers from the states of Uttar Praadesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra. The main themes for interaction of webinar were; current status of soil arthropod pests infestation, existing recommended package of practices being followed, chemical pesticides, IPM using biological control agents such Metarhiziumanisopliae, Beauveria bassiana, Entomopathogenic Nematodes and other available  edaphic natural enemies on immature stages of these pests and on natural predators on adult beetles that emerge and feed on various host plant foliage. Efforts to chalk out future strategy for making available the successful and effective bio-agents at farm level will be made through rural entrepreneurship under rural self-help groups and farmer producer groups.

The Webinar was launched by Dr. T.R. Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science). He discussed the need for sharper IPM tools using biological control tactics to contain the overwhelming soil arthropod pests and save crops from severe damage and loss to farmers. In the Welcoming remarks Sh. Jagpal Singh Secretary, FARMER explained the purpose of the Webinar and expected outcome. In his Opening Remark by Dr. T.P. Rajendran, Former Asst/ DG (Plant Protection), ICAR explained the need for sustainable solutions to suppress soil arthropod pests and the significant role of ICAR-All India Network Research project in developing regional and national recommendations that can be incorporated by the packages of practices of all State Agriculture Universities as well as the agriculture / horticulture departments of all states and Union Territories. Dr. Y.P. Singh, Assistant Director General (Plant Protection), ICAR in his felicitation address provided the ICAR perspective on the research for managing soil arthropods through ICAR-AINP on Soil arthropods.
